I'm still learning how to love...

Caught between the
roar of the freeway.
And the whisper of snow falling lightly on the trees.

The real world sounding off in the distance.
A moment in time taken.
A pause.
A breath.

Walking through the woods on a cold winter day.
And still hearing the echo of life.

The stark contrast of snow falling.
Of a stream rushing through crackling ice.

The question is...  which one do I choose more often?

The answer.  I always run towards the sound of the freeway.
Even though it doesn't give life.

I run in the opposite direction.

But this day I choose to stand in awe.  To take a moment.  To be still.  To hear the snow crunching under foot.  To see the bark on a gnarly tree and wonder, what on earth were you thinking when You made that God?  Where are you in this Jesus?

"Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.
Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me and eat what is good,
and your soul will delight in the richest of fare.
Give ear and come to me; hear me that your soul may live."  ~Isaiah 55.1-3a
