Randomness associated with John 15

I don't own a vineyard.  I don't really know how they work.  I can't really drink wine anyway.  But it seems commonplace (or at least more common place than is in my every day life) to understand these things in Scripture.  There are pages upon pages filled with comparison.

But things I learned tonight in connection with John 15.  Vines growing on soft soil produce many lush bunches of grapes.  However, the watery juice doesn't make the best wine.  Vines that grow on stony hillsides had smaller crops but a much richer and bolder flavor.

Also...in the tending of the vineyards.....a vine dresser would water the vines just beyond the reach of the roots, causing them to stretch to grow.  Vines--when stressed--produced better fruit.  Just as cutting back the initial fruit produces a better harvest later.  The end result being a fruit that is richer and makes for a better wine.

Implications and connections to every day life?  Limitless and not always easy to accept.  But beautiful.  And holy.
